TPS for Cameroon Extended and Redesignated for 18 Months; EADs Automatically Extended Through Dec. 7, 2024

Release Date:
News Item Date:

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas extended and redesignated Cameroon for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from Dec. 8, 2023, through June 7, 2025.  Cameroonian nationals and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Cameroon may submit an initial registration application under the redesignation of Cameroon for TPS and apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

Given the time frames for processing TPS re-registration applications, USCIS has automatically extended through Dec. 7, 2024, the validity of certain EADs issued under the TPS designation for Cameroon.

Creating an E-Verify Case

Once a new employee has completed Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, create a case in E-Verify for this employee. Enter the EAD document number you entered on Form I-9, as well as the automatically extended date of Dec. 7, 2024.  You must reverify these employees on Form I-9 before they start work on Dec. 8, 2024.

Find more details about this extension and redesignation on the TPS designation for Cameroon page and instructions for completing Form I-9 on the I-9 Central TPS page.
