What is the connection between the I-20 and Form I-9; specifically with E-Verify? Is information from the I-20 required by E-Verify employers?

A foreign passport, Form I-94 and Form I-20 presented together are considered one List A document for Form I-9 purposes. For Curricular Practical Training, all three documents together establish the student’s identity and authorization to work. The requirements for E-Verify are sometimes different than the requirements for Form I-9. When an E-Verify case is created for an employee who is a student, we have the ability to cross check DHS databases to determine if the student is eligible to work. In order to make the process more efficient, E-Verify only requests the information necessary to establish work eligibility, so the information from the I-20 is not required.
