Each User Needs a Unique Email Address to Ensure Continued Access to E-Verify

E-Verify staff are contacting browser users by phone and email to let them know their E-Verify account could be locked if they don’t take steps to prepare for the transition to Login.gov.

Beginning this fall, E-Verify users will use their email address instead of their E-Verify username to sign in using Login.gov. Each browser user will create their own profile on Login.gov with their unique email address. The email address will function as their “username” for Login.gov.

Updated: Ukrainian Employees with Parole

USCIS announced that beginning Feb. 27, 2024, certain Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members displaced by the Russian invasion and paroled into the United States, will be able to request an extension of parole (re-parole) for up to two additional years.

USCIS Extends Form I-9 Expiration Date

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services updated the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification to extend the expiration date to 05/31/2027.

Employers must use the Form I-9 with the edition date of 08/1/23, which may have an expiration date of either 07/31/2026 or 05/31/2027. Either form may be used until its respective expiration date. Downloads available on the Form I-9 download page will only include the new 05/31/2027 expiration date.

Somalia Redesignated for TPS and TPS Extended for 18 Months; Certain EADs Automatically Extended Through Sept. 17, 2025

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas extended and redesignated Somalia for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) from Sept. 18, 2024, through March 17, 2026. Nationals of Somalia and individuals with no nationality who last habitually resided in Somalia may submit an initial registration application under the redesignation of Somalia for TPS and apply for an Employment Authorization Document (EAD).

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas extended and redesignated Haiti for TPS from Aug. 4, 2024, through Feb. 3, 2026. Nationals of Haiti and individuals with no nationality who last habitually resided in Haiti may submit an initial registration application under the redesignation of Haiti for TPS and apply for an EAD. Current beneficiaries who want to maintain their status must re-register and may apply for new EADs.

USCIS Issues Notices Extending Certain TPS EADs Through March 9, 2025

USCIS is issuing Form I-797, Notice of Action, to certain Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries who are eligible to re-register for TPS or have a pending application to renew their Form I-766, Employment Authorization Document (EAD). This notice further extends the validity of their EAD through March 9, 2025.  

Employees may show their Form I-797, along with their TPS-based EAD (EAD with an A12 or C19 code), to any U.S. employer as proof of continued employment authorization through March 9, 2025.
