1.0 Introduction

This manual provides guidance on E-Verify processes and outlines the rules and responsibilities for employers and E-Verify employer agents enrolled in E-Verify. Users must follow the guidelines set forth in the E-Verify Memorandum of Understanding for Employers (MOU) and the rules and responsibilities outlined in this manual.

For purposes of this manual, the term “employer” means any person, company, or other entity that is required to complete Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, including any individual with an E-Verify user account. The term “E-Verify employer agent” means any person, company, or other entity that is providing the service of verifying employees as a third party to employers through the use of E-Verify.

This section provides a background, overview and an introduction to basic website navigation, participation, user roles, rules and responsibilities, as well as the privacy and security guidelines of E-Verify.
